I'm Searching for Something that I Can't Reach
Felicity had been in here literally all day. She didn't think it was possible for her eyes to hurt so much from just looking at paper. Sure, it was for a good cause... kind of. It started out for a good cause at least. She was going though the past newspapers in the area to see if something had hinted at the mist or some demigod or monster or titan or anything relating to her world had shown up in this small town and then she was just doing normal research. This place had a really good library, even had a Starbucks inside so she didn't even have to leave if she got hungry and there was endless amounts of caffeine at her disposal too. Granted, that may or may not be a good idea she was what, already on her third cup of coffee? How long had she even been here?
She leaned back in the chair and looked at the clock as she stretched. From the looks of it, since she had gotten here at seven in the morning and now it was reaching later in the day she had been here a good while. She quickly grabbed the table as the chair got off balance some. Alright, she really needed to get up and walk around do something before she passed out at this table. She closed the book that was in front of her and grabbed the others. They were all historical texts, Greek and Roman myths and histories. She was just hoping that by looking deep into the history she might get some answers, figure out what all the others plans were, especially the Titans. In all honesty that was the biggest threat. Yeah sure, there was the Greek Renegades too but she didn't see a reason to go after the joint camp or anything. She wasn't a fan of the treaty but that didn't mean she needed to go about slaughtering people for the fun of it, she wasn't Cato. Yeah sure, when the war was going on she was all against the Greeks and the treaty but she had a reason to be. Now well, she wasn't exactly so fueled with revenge. It had leveled out some but now she was stuck in her position and everyone wanted Greek blood that was below her and she just wanted to rebuild Rome. She knew it wasn't the main opinion those beneath her wanted but she just kept putting off battles. If she were to engage in any it would be against the Titans or the Greek Renegade anyway and they would have to settle for that or overthrow her. Which that overthrowing thing was something she pretty much expected any day. If it wasn't for the fact she was a big three would she still be where she was at anyway? She didn't want to think of an overthrow though, it wouldn't end pretty and she wasn't exactly eager to meet dear old dad but she knew it was only going to be a matter of time, not like there was anything else anchoring her to this life anyway. Maybe Mattie but even then he had a life outside of her.
The brunette walked the aisles to go put the books back and tried to stifle a yawn, causing her to drop one of the books that she was trying to juggle. When she went down to grab the one it just made the remainder of the four or five books she was carrying fall to the floor, causing her to huff in frustration as eyes looked over to her. The problem with libraries was that it was quiet and the problem with big heavy books was that they caused too much noise when they fell and so attention was drawn to the girl who would rather just stay alone in the confinement of the shadows. Judas looked around the library aimlessly, he wasn't really sure why he was here. He didn't read like that, but he didn't mind reading a book every now and then. He had lots of free time on his hands roaming around now a days and this place looked neat. Tons of books and coffee to drown your sorrow in. Yeah that was the simple life of some bookworm, if only he could be a bookworm and not a demigod. As he thought about it his friends back home would probably laugh at him. They'd never expect that out of him, a literal spawn of evil. He wasn't really evil now a days he was more of a drunken puppy clumsily roaming around with so much energy. Well that used to be him before the war, although he himself didn't partake in it too long he saw the horrors. His friends were all dead and he saw them die on the battlefield. Other's they left he wasn't sure where they were. He was 50% sure his brother Marshall was dead, then again he didn't go back. Not after the stunt he just pulled. Anyways no more getting caught up in depressed thoughts time to loose himself in books.
Judas looked around for something remotely interesting to read, he looked around the sci-fi area and found a neat book about zombies and stuff. He found a cool book about airplanes, airplanes were awesome. Searching around again he found a book about irony, neat. And lastly he was just shuffling into another aisle when he saw some girl crash super harsh, he saw one book fall and another one. And soon they all came tumbling down. She looked as is her whole life was falling apart in front of her very eyes. She looked so horrified as everyone was looking dead at her. Shoot he'd be hella embarrassed if that happened to him. Well actually he wouldn't he'd just flip everyone off and continue on as if nothing happened. But if he was her he would so be embarrassed . He debated on helping her, more so because she seemed like the type to be all: Oh I don't need your help blah blah blah I can do fine on my own! Sure it's cool that she can do things on her own but you know need to be a huge....well he wasn't even sure if this was the case. And if he doesn't help and she sees him, does that make him the jerk? Well there was only one way to find out. He took all his books and carried them in one arm and walked over to the girl with the falling books.
"Yo, life alert to the rescue. There's a nice little corner back here so if you don't want people to see you for a little bit come along."
He said this as he set his books aside to pick up some of the books she dropped. He looked at the covers as he grabbed them. Most of them were like history and mythology books. Ha she was a little bookworm that was really cute. He did his best to stifle his laugh so he didn't offend her or something.
"So you like Greek and Roman Myths huh?"
This could mean one of two things, either she was a really curious human or she was a demigod. He didn't want to ask her about the latter for the simple fact that she could be a Greek Renegade or a Roman Renegade. Neither would be happy to see him. Judas was pretty much on his own and bailed out on the fighting after he got what he wanted. He wasn't sure if any one saw him leave the battle but if they did everyone would know and they wouldn't be too happy with him. He shouldn't have to explain why her being Roman was a really bad thing. So he was gonna ignore all of this and pretend she was a normal person. Because then he could pretend that he was normal too and everyone would be happy. As of right now he was waiting for her reaction and to see if his suspicions were correct. He kind of hoped that things went well, she seemed really nice as far as he could tell.

I'm Searching for Something that I Can't Reach
Felicity didn't think she looked that much like a tragedy but at the same time she thought she was better at hearing footsteps approaching her. After all, she had trained herself when she was younger on doing that because she never wanted to lose at hide and seek, it wasn't some hard core training, just like a way of being aware. Not that people found her to begin with, she was a pro at hide and seek. Might have helped that when she was a little kid she was one of the few who wasn't scared of the dark. Either way, past behind her she didn't hear the footsteps approaching her so she was caught off guard by the voice when the person spoke, male, obviously, and turning to look at him it just proved it, at least male in the biological sense, she knew people identified as other things and such but speaking scientifically the guy was a guy, at least he looked like a biological guy.
She knit her eyebrows slightly. Life alert? Like the old people commercial? The I've fallen and can't get- oh. Now she got it. Thankfully it came to her quickly so it didn't create anything awkward as she gave a small smile and helped him pick up her books. "Thanks, avoiding people just went to the top of my to-do list. Dropping books in a library... gods, talk about embarrassing, but thanks..again." She just needed to shut up before she rambled or something which has been known to happen whenever she was embarrassed, which after the incidents she was plenty embarrassed. But at least the guy came in with a joke and not just a Oh let me help you or something, not that she would have been rude. A joke just always came off as better. She didn't understand the girls who were rude like that, like sure, if you're having a bad day and all but the ones who were so feminist that it hurt, those were the ones she couldn't stand, the ones who took offense to literally everything.
At the mention of the books she had she suddenly felt self conscious and as she got up she pushed her right sleeve down even more just in case the legion tattoo was threatening to show itself. That would have just made her seem like some weird person obsessed with that time period if they didn't know anything about demigods, well, Roman demigods. She doubted most people knew what the SPQR meant or what the symbol for Pluto was and they would probably think the ten marks underneath it all was tacky. It wasn't like she had a choice in the manner, it just appeared and it was painful every time it updated itself, however the heck that worked. Luckily it wasn't something she had to worry about anymore.
"I uh... yeah. I was just comparing the two. Mainly familiar with the Roman ones." Great job, what if he was a Greek? She pretty much would have just blown her cover. "I uh, took Latin, in...high school. So, yeah... that's why." She added quickly to hopefully cover her tracks. This was not going well, she needed more caffeine and to have not just made a huge embarrassment of herself and then she just kept going at it. She never should have left her tent this morning. Nope, today was one of those days were you obviously were not meant to be a social person because you would keep screwing up any interaction.
"I'm Felicity by the way. I'd shake your hand but then we might have another big crash of books and then we'd probably both get kicked out the library." Felicity said, ending with a slight laugh, hoping to steer the conversation away from mythology. She couldn't tell if they guy in front of her was a demigod or not. There was no obvious signs. The only thing obvious about him was his hair color and that didn't scream anything about being a demigod. Not that if he was it would be a bad thing, unless he hated Romans, but even then she could defend himself. If he was a Greek well... unless he knew who she was she didn't see any harm in talking to him, it wasn't like there was any other Romans in the area that she knew of and she did reveal her name to him so she would know if it rang a bell or not. She really hoped for the latter. Words: 777 | Judas Holiday | Such awkward, much embarrassment By: Jackie

Well at least she appeared to appreciate his joke and assistance. That was good for him at least he didn't need to get all mean and nasty with her, which he didn't want to do since she seemed like a nice person and roasting someone at the library was definitely not on the top of his to do list. When he mentioned the books she seemed nervous, very nervous. He wondered if it was because she didn't think mythology was cool enough to read out in public? Or because she was a demigod and she obviously sucked at being undercover? In all honesty if he himself wasn't a demigod then she would've been fine. Even if she was REALLY obvious with it he might as well continue on as if he wasn't a Demi god. Judas nodded as she mentioned specifically Latin and Roman, she quickly covered her tracks by saying that she had taken a Latin Language course in high school.
Judas wasn't sure what to think of that other then she's the worst liar he's ever met, for some reason it really cute? It kind of fit her whole personality, well what he's noticed so far. He looked at her quizzically, because there was no other way to react then that,
"Latin in high school? They never taught me anything like that in school. We got like spanish at most and I was bad with spanish class. You must've been from one those fancy schools because isn't Latin like a dead language or something?"
With that Judas lead Felicity to the back of the library where all of his things were. A jacket a couple of spare books that were stacked in a random way.
"My name is Judas, and before you ask yes that's my real name and no I never changed my name."
That was usually the first two things people ask him when they learn his name. He was quite aware of who Judas was and what he represents. Judas was sure that his mom just really liked the name and not what it meant religiously? He was sure one of his uncles was pretty religious but he was sure his mom wasn't all the religious. Anyways Judas sat the books down on the table and waited for Felicity to do the same so that they could actually shake hands.

I'm Searching for Something that I Can't Reach
This was definitely not her prime time for lying or keeping in cover. Blame it on the fact she had just spent hours with her nose in books. Even she wouldn't be able to grab her bearings fast enough because her brain was literally fried. She might be a nerd but even she needed a break from time to time. And judging from the quizzical look the guy in front of her was giving her she was obvious acted weird. Great first impression. Maybe she won't ever have to see him again or something. That's how it worked, right? If you fuck up the first meeting you avoid the person for the rest of eternity, right?
"Nope, just a normal high school. And it's not entirely dead, some people still use it. Like the Pope and other catholic people. All the documents are in it. Other than that yeah, it's dead dead." Oh yeah, there was also an entire race of demigods who spoke it too, not that he would know that or probably cared. He probably didn't care about the pope thing. And now he probably though she was some weird Jesus freak. "And it comes in handy for medicine or history.... and yeah." She added quickly, probably just burying herself in more of a hole. What would be great right now would be a spontaneous fire in the library that forced everyone to leave and then she could get out of this horribly awkward situation. Nope, nothing? Gee, some help the gods were. So she just followed him to the back of the library where she assumed what was his stuff was laying out, she tried to glance at the titles of the books he had stacked to try to get some understanding of him. She put her own books down and raised an eyebrow at the way he introduced himself.
"Okay? Either way it's pretty cool even though it sounds like you got bothered by people for it. And thanks, again, for helping me back there." She said as she went to shake his hand. Half of her wanted to grab his inner arm to check for a weapon. She hadn't exactly been prone to meeting new people and she was hesitant about it. Could you blame her? It wasn't like the world was a safe place, not even for a normal mortal and what was it that kids were taught? Stranger danger.

The white haired man looked at the other as she consecutively continued to engage in conversation but at the same time burying herself at the same time, if she was trying to improve her it really wasn't working. However Judas found that in order for his cover to work he had to believe that hers was working to a degree. He had to nonchalantly believe that there wasn't an entire race of half gods that could speak and read a dead language fluently. Nope, totes doesn't exist at this very moment or any time at all. So he instinctively nodded to her as she was burying herself alive.
"So the pope uses it? That's cool I guess, that he could do that while popeing it up in the Vatican or where ever the pope usually lives."
The books in Judas' hands contrasted what was on the table. In his hand were casual reads, a sci-fi novel about zombies, a book about airplanes, and a book on irony. But on the table were books about some states and maps of the United States. He had a notebook with a really crappily drawn US map, it was marked up with x's on certain places, question marks on other places, and many different colored lines from one place to another. The books he collected were on the desk and they shook hands. He noticed that she had a firm grip, not that it wasn't uncommon but he certainly didn't expect it. In any case he pulled out his chair and one for her before taking a seat.
"So where are you from? You don't look like you're from here."
It was painfully obviously that neither one of them belonged here. Everyone else seemed so plain looking, even the most attractive people here could stand to take pointers from the natural born fashionistas from New York City. Even Judas, who didn't think himself too attractive was probably more extravagant then anyone else here what with his white hair and rather dark clothing. And Felicity? Well she had nice red hair, something uncommon here, the people here were mostly blondes or brunettes. So with that said, they both didn't belong here and that made for small talk so that they weren't awkwardly sitting and staring at each other like the weirdos they probably were.

[googlefont="Philosopher"][googlefont="PT Sans"] [attr="class","ribbonbrn"] [attr="class","ribbonbrn-content"] I'm Searching for Something That I Can't Reach [attr="class","tgboxyak"] [attr="class","txtbxyak"] [attr="class","rbtxtbr2"]Felicity glanced at him at the mention of someone popeing it up. She couldn't stop herself from smiling at the lameness of that saying as she shook her head. Was this guy serious? She had to admit that he was a bit funny, something she had always admired in a person mainly due to the lack of humor that had been in the legion. She supposed that was why she dealt with Mattie as often as she had. People would always talk shit about him behind his back but she wouldn’t. He was her friend and it kind of sucked after the war when she lost contact with him for as long as she had. But now he was visiting the Romans and maybe, just maybe she could convince him to stay. Though she doubted he would harbor the same hatred towards Greeks that the rest of the camp had.
She looked at the layout on the table that he had as she sat down. She knit her eyebrows together in a very Merrimen like fashion as her eyes scanned over the various maps and the crudely drawn one. “Planning an elaborate road trip? If so, I definitely recommend stopping in Aspen. Or are you up to something else?” She joked, but couldn’t hid the slight hesitation she had suddenly found against him. The maps obviously detailed something much more elaborate than a road trip, it looked like a plan or investigation. Something detectives used when they were tracking something or someone.
“Where I’m from? Do you mean where I was born or where I lived the longest?” She asked with a slight laugh. If one went with where she was born then well, it was Aspen, Colorado, but where she lived the longest that was definitely Camp Jupiter in California, granted it was all just ruins now but it was nice while it lasted. And the day trips into California were fun as well. It wasn’t until the war that she really found herself on the Eastern half of the United States, when they attacked Camp Half-Blood. People on each coast were so different from one another. In California they were all about healthy eating and catching sun, at least in the part she had visited. But visiting New York it was all about fashion and pizza and bagels. Okay, so there was probably more food but she only cared about food that she would eat. She could survive a New York diet. Hell, if she could she would eat pizza every day she would, not like she didn’t work out enough to burn it all away.
