Other than her lack of interest in architecture, there’s nothing about Laurel Greystone that doesn’t scream ‘Daughter of Athena’. At first impression, most may see her as distant and haughty, and while this may be partially true, they’re not the only personality traits that Laurel possesses.
Intelligent:
Laurel’s a typical daughter of Athena meaning that she values education above most things and won’t hesitate to take advantage of opportunities that may help her in the real world. Usually, you’ll catch her with a cup of tea in one hand and a book in another. Surprisingly, she’s not one to be arrogant about her IQ score, but she does take pride on her determination and physical capabilities.
Laurel also tends to radiate an unintended ‘know-it-all’ aura no matter where she’s going or what she’s doing. Laurel is confident in herself, but it doesn’t take much for that confidence to turn into a conceited, “know-it-all”-ness that most people despise.
Level headed&distant:
“Mind over heart” is one of Laurel’s mantras that she strictly follows by detaching herself from the emotions surrounding an event and focusing on the objective whole. While this benefits her and her future in the long run, it also makes her more withdrawn. She finds it difficult to open up to her peers about her trepidations, and also comfort others when needed. Laurel also has a tendency to flee from her emotions by burying herself in her studies and activities or by being in denial.
Witty:
Another thing that Laurel inherited from her father other than his red hair is his humor. Even though Laurel is stoic most times, she has a more welcoming side to her personality that consists of silly jokes, sarcastic comments, and genuine smiles.
Highly competitive:
Another one of Laurel’s habits is viewing everything as a competition. Whether it’d be a simple bet or a swordfight, she always strives to come out on top. There’s been a few times where this habit had become unhealthy, and it had taken a lot for Laurel to be snapped back into her sane state.
When Laurel comes out as a failure, she tends to wallow in her own self-pity for a while. But eventually she’ll get back up, brush herself off, and try again.
Selfless:
It might take a while for one to fully gain Laurel’s trust, but once they do, Laurel’s commitment to them is stronger than steel. While it’s unexpected, Laurel’s is extremely compassionate and strives for justice.

Early Life
James Greystone was just fresh out of law school when he encountered Athena at a London coffee shop. It didn’t take long for the goddess, disguised as a young archaeology major, to win both James’ heart and mind. They spent a significant amount of time in that coffee shop but eventually their visit came to an end. They parted ways, and for a moment, James Greystone believed in love at first sight.
The second time James and Athena’s paths crossed was during an architecture gala. Despite sporting a different disguise (albeit it was similar to the one Athena used during their coffee shop encounter), James Greystone still recognized Athena’s wit and knowledge. The couple spent the night together, shamelessly flirting while touring the gala and eventually leaving the gathering to enjoy the night on their own terms. Consequently, that was the night that James’ daughter would be conceived. James never saw Athena after that night, to his despair, and remained a bachelor for months, hopelessly waiting for the day that his lover would reappear.
Eventually Athena did reappear on James’ London doorstep, nine months later to be exact. In her arms the goddess cradled a swaddled infant. The goddess was frank with James and wasted no time when it came to explaining her situation—the gods, their forbidden affair, and his daughter that she bore (through mind birth >.> ). James was stunned to say the least, yet he accepted the infant without protest. Athena left in a hurry, leaving no time for a formal apology James believed he truly deserved.
James singlehandedly raised his daughter in London, balancing his full-time job in corporate law and his duties on being a just father. It didn’t take long until the burden of being both a busy lawyer and a father to become overbearing. When Laurel was only two years old, the Greystones emigrated to the United States of America, specifically to Newport, Oregon. Newport was merely a small beach town. It was quaint, with pastel beach houses and an abundance of locally owned seafood restaurants. The difference between the busy streets of London and the sandy shores of Newport was huge, but both James and Laurel cherished the town nonetheless. All was well for a while until a few months before Laurel’s ninth birthday when strange things started occurring. Suddenly, a trail of spiders seemed to follow Laurel wherever she went and there were even a few instances when Laurel awoke to a cobweb-covered bedroom. James and Laurel fled Newport immediately and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia was a step up from quiet Newport, and Laurel enjoyed it just as much. The city offered the young girl more opportunities than Newport could ever giver her and she took advantage of each one of them. She found herself maintaining outstanding grades, attending ballet, and joining clubs. The excess of extracurricular activities might’ve been too stressful for a girl her age, but Laurel oddly enjoyed it. All was well.
Everything changed one spring afternoon. Twelve-year-old Laurel arrived home from ballet, but was greeted by a desolate house. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary since James had a tendency to spend late nights at his firm. Though this time, Laurel new that something was wrong. It wasn’t long until the police came and reported James missing or dead. “Esteemed Lawyer attacked by wild bear in own home,” the local newspapers would report a week later. It wasn’t a bear, Laurel had told the officers. They didn’t listen.
Soon enough, a satyr came for Laurel and escorted her to Camp Half-Blood where she would spent the next few years mourning the loss of her father and struggling to build a new life.
Camp Half-Blood
Laurel absolutely enjoyed Camp Half-Blood. She remained there for the entirety of her summers, only leaving for the school year to board with faceless foster families. It didn’t take long until Athena claimed Laurel. The young girl held her parentage with great pride.
By the age of twelve, Laurel had forged strong connections with her fellow demigods at Camp. Two of them were Josh Fletcher and Aurora Aldenberg, both of which Laurel cherished as close friends.
When she was thirteen, Laurel received a letter from her Grandparents in Britain that she’d lost contact with over the years. They offered Laurel a free ride to a prestigious boarding school in Manchester and there was no possible way Laurel would turn the offer down. She left for England before the end of that summer without informing anyone of her absence. Laurel feared that she wouldn’t have the heart to leave the States if she’d had taken time to personally inform her friends of her departure. The only farewell she’d spared was two identical letters addressed to Aurora and Josh. The letter to Josh failed to reach him.
England and the Present
With Britain came new friendships, destructive love, and an unbelievable amount of school work. Her mythical monster encounters were surprisingly scarce there, giving Laurel the opportunity to love her life as a normal human. When she turned twenty-two, the daughter of Athena made the decision to return to Camp Half-Blood, completely unaware of the war she’d missed and the destruction it had left behind.

Powers
Naturaly gifted:
PROWESS IN BATTLE
While Laurel's a bit rusty in combat, she's still talented when it comes to outsmarting her opponents with her words and sneaky skills. Even though there weren't many monsters in Britain to fight, Laurel still encountered a stray once or twice a month, giving her minimal practice with her combat skills. She's capable of being a talented strategist but hasn't had the experienced.
She is quite talented when it comes to throwing knives and has impeccable accuracy. This skill wasn't a gift but was developed during her early years at camp and frequently exercised in Britain.
TELEKINESIS
Laurel hasn't fully grasped this power yet. Her endurance is pretty low, and she can only move items smaller than a bread box that weigh approximately less than 7-10 pounds. She's not able to throw or catch things with this ability yet and can only move items. This requires great concentration and a lot of mental strength. The aftereffects that she's experienced when overusing this ability are terribly painful migraines, dizziness, nausea, the inability to think clearly, and extreme fatigue.
