Ruby was on her own which was what she knew. At least it was what she had known for most of her adult life. Technically she was part of the Renegade group, but she found herself more often than not out here in the real world by herself. She found camp to be stifling if she stayed there too long. She had been that way since first arriving at Camp Half Blood. She had barely been there a few months when the war broke out. She had fought for those who she had gotten close to, not the camp because it was her home or anything like that. She never viewed that place as home. Sure it had been a nice safe place to crash for a little while, but it certainly wasn't home.
After the war ended she couldn't see herself joining hands with the Romans and building up something she didn't believe in. She didn't trust them, They were the enemy. She couldn't see how anyone could agree to work with someone who destroyed your life it was madness. Did those ignorant demigods really think that the Romans would just let matters lie once the Titans were defeated? No. They were ruthless and once they got their main threat neutralized they were going to move back onto the Greeks, she could see it from a mile away. It was infuriating that others couldn't.
Ruby found herself at a small coffee shop just on the outskirts of town. She wasn't here on mission or for anything to do with the Renegade camp she was simply here to relax. She ordered her normal cup of coffee and sat down at an empty table near the window. The rain was beginning to pour down and if she tried really hard she could almost pretend like everything was right and normal in the world. || WORD COUNT: 331 || OUTFIT: HERE || NOTES: It's kinda blah sorry lol || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

Being a demigod had completely ruined Edmund's life. The gods, the Greeks, the Romans, the monsters, the titans, he didn't discriminate. The ADHD, dyslexia, and monster attacks, he could deal with. He couldn't deal with being trapped in a camp cage full of idiots who blindly took orders and believed in things that never showed up or cared. He didn't even know why the renegades bothered. At that point, they had more of a chance of blending in the with the mortals than trying to get back an ancient civilization that was never meant to work. He gave the joint camp five years (if that) before internal conflicts and civil war happened. The idiots thought it could work. Just wait. Edmund would be the one laughing and saying 'I told you so' in the end... It wouldn't matter who started it, but it would start. Then people would take sides, the sides they took before the joining, obviously... and hopefully they'd all annihilate each other. They weren't supposed to exist, anyway. Of course, he counted himself in that group, but he hadn't been stupid enough to stay.
As a loner and drifter, Edmund went wherever he pleased, whenever he pleased. All he had was his backpack and he was good to go. One day, he'd figure out how to rig a motorcycle to work on solar power instead of gas (because, really, how could he get everywhere if he needed to fill up with gas and barely had any money?) but today was not that day. Today, he found himself walking through a town on foot: window shopping and getting ideas for future projects. He had been nearing the edge of the town when he felt the first few rain drops. Not a problem... he liked rain. He kept walking until he saw a little shop; by that point, it had really started to come down. He gave his eyes a slight roll and glanced at the small place he had been approaching. It seemed to be some sort of food... oh, right, that American coffee that they were so obsessed with. As if he needed anything else to keep him awake. Since it was usual rule and custom to buy something in there before staying there, Ed opted to take an outside chair by a window. The wind was moving the rain in the opposite direction, anyway, so he could stay relatively dry.

The rain was beginning to fall heavier now. She could recall a night she had spent way too long at a bar. The music had been amazing, the drinks had been decent and the dancing had been intoxicating. She had laughed and danced her way through the night, stopping only to throw darts at the dartboard in the corner or play pool. She and her friend had spent the night there, celebrating nothing and everything all at once. She could still remember the way the place smelled of alcohol and smoke. It had been going well, then some guy tried getting grabby with her. Her friend had decked him of course and the two took off running after the guy's friends began making their way over. The pair had laughed and ran through the night, the rain pouring down on them and soaking them to their soul. They hadn't cared, she hadn't cared. She hadn't cared about much of anything back then.
She watched the rain pour down, washing the world. She could still remember the way his hair clung to his face, his eyes danced. That had been a year or more ago but it felt like ages, it felt like a whole different life. If only she knew now what she didn't know then. They would have never went to camp, they would have ran away and left the whole demigod world alone. A bit selfish yes, but now he was gone and with his death took the only home she had ever known. The only bit of happiness she had ever had. Sure it might have been selfish to run away, but it was better than this. Surely, anything was better than this.
Ruby finished off the rest of the coffee and signaled the waiter to bring her another. As she turned back towards the window a guy sat down in front of the window outside. She furrowed her brow a bit, it was odd. Who would choose to be outside in the cold when there were plenty of seats inside. She watched him a moment and couldn't help the amused smiled that came to her as she studied his scowl. Ruby tapped her hand on the glass to get his attention. Nodding to the empty seat across from her. She didn't know why she cared to reach out to the other guy, but she supposed listening to someone go on about something they were clearly agitated about was the best way to ignore her problems. || WORD COUNT: 419 || OUTFIT: HERE || || NOTES: LOL I think these two will be hilarious || TAG : Edmund Simons|| template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

Staying a loner came naturally to Edmund. He felt no allegiance towards either Greek nor Roman (because really, why would he?), nor towards state nor country (because, again, why would he?). He could win the most anti-patriotic, anti-loyalist award (and then try to kill all the people at the reception, or just not even show). He had himself, and that’s all he could ever rely on. Any people he had felt loyalty to where gone, and no other cause except rebelling appealed to him enough. Greek, nah. Roman, nah. Both together? He could laugh if he remembered how. Not because of their petty feud and switch to singing kumbaya, but because he just couldn’t stand being with either side. He had actually been planning his ditch when the war decided to conveniently shuffle along. Camp had given him a bed, food, knowledge, and a free real life test (the war). That’s all. No sense of loyalty had come, not even after being there a couple of years. It wasn’t home, no where was. He supposed Rome and Greece shaking on it had been the last straw. He didn’t even stick around to help build. He just left, not that anyone would notice. Sure, after a couple of months they may’ve realized they were one forger down (but really, who would care? Ed was easily replaceable) and that less people were getting into fights and shouting matches with a particular fiery, dark haired teen, and that orders weren’t being defied by the same angry forger, but they probably found solace in that. They wanted peace and stability; they didn’t want to see the truth. In all actuality, Edmund wished he wasn't a demigod, before he had known, his life had been just fine; sure, having monsters and getting kicked out of schools had been a tad stressful, but he had his family, he could do it. Now, with no one and nothing left of his real family and past life, he felt nothing towards the demigod world, no matter how much camp wanted to emphasize unity because of the stupid gods, alike histories, and blood ties. It all meant nothing to him. They could try to brainwash him all they wanted, but that camp and the people inside of it would never be his home or his family. Following that satyr had been one of the worst decisions of his life: it had brought him to camp. He could've found somewhere in the mortal world that could've taught him the forging, hand to hand combat, and the sword fighting he had picked up while in the cage, right? But stupid, young, naive him... he made that mistake once, and he'd sure as hell never make it again. Ed's thoughts came to a jarring halt as a tapping sound came from behind him. He turned to look around, his hand falling to his pocket where he kept his pocket knife. Good thing about being a forger at camp: he was a small walking weapons shop. His head tilted slightly as she nodded to the seat across from her. Sit there? A small hope said that she could be signaling someone else... that hope vanished as soon as he realized that (a) there was no one else around and (b) very few people would have his level of asocialness, taking the cold rain instead of going inside. He hesitated a moment before rising and entering the shop. He quickly found the girl who had signaled to him and sat down, studying her though slightly narrowed eyes. "What?"OOC: Sorry, muse went wild xD no need to match lol and yes haha i agree, this will be most entertaining!! IC: 602 Tag: @ruby
