• Being called alert is typical for the young woman in question. She has a knack for being quite aware of when things are not as they should be, however she is hardly one to look past that, maybe drop a hint somewhere that something seems off, but she'll never go further then that. • Being called athletic comes natural to Valerie, especially since not only did she grow up in a small rural area just south of Chicago, but because of the large patch of woodland behind her house that she ran through nearly every morning at six am. It's actually quite true and wonderful that even now after moving away from her father to protect him, she still keeps up with the routine since it is something her father had started with her. You can likely find her running through the woods, and suddenly jumping over a small set of lifted roots.

• Being described as cheerful is likely the only way to describe the woman before you. Her usual cheerful dimeter is something that can be almost infectious at times. Found typically with a smile plastered on her face, many wonder how in such a time that has passed could she keep such a positive and upbeat attitude to the world. You see, she would easily try to see the positive side of things before letting the negative get to her and that is why she is usually can be found trying to help with as much positive attitude as she can muster for those around her. No one will find a negative nancy when Valerie is around and they need the positivity around. She will likely shove her own problems to the back of her head just to keep up with her own personal.

• There has been talk that compassionate could be used as a fair trait to described Valerie. You see the young woman before you has a fair bit of compassion that would likely - in the end - destroy her. You see, regardless of their position in this rather unpleasant world, if they are hurt or extremely upset to the point that they need someone, Valerie has been known to stick to her guns and offer a gentle hand towards the person. One might think that is may come across traitorous when she says she is concern for any traitors or prisoners that they find that are titans. To be quite honest, her love and passion for people as what they are; just people, is something so unlike anyone else that it's actually quite sweet.

• Many people see her sweet face and think she is one to sit back and let the big boys fight a war, play dirty and take care of the children and fellow brothers and sisters, but they are so wrong. She has been actively called courageous in her own right and many people are shocked when she finally steps out from behind the top guns to voice an opinion or belief that she feels so strongly about. In fact, a lot of people have watched and are stunned by the way she carries herself, the confidence that is held with her head tilted up and she faces every situation with her head lifted high and her eyes never casted down - but squared equally to anyone she is standing against. She would rather be treated as an equal and, that in her own right (with her ability to say so) proves she has some strength.

• You know the saying, curiosity killed the cat? Well Valerie has a strong and undying taste for her curious nature and she is likely to never lose it. Ever since she was a child, she has always found that her curious child-like nature has gotten her into some serious crap, but it has also proven to be extremely useful in the fact that it's driven her to understand her abilities and powers as well as learned much about general forest herbs and natural remedies. You see a lot of people can never actually justify her natural curiosity and have actually called it a negative thing but when it helps her nose herself around camp and around people it has become a tool that she uses to save her own behind since it seems that every day the outrageous assumption of the titans and the greeks/romans going into an all out war draws closer.

• Being athletic does mean that she does have some very strong energetic moments where she is literally bouncing on the balls of her feet. You can likely see her also moving some part of her body, even when told to sit still she will likely twirl a piece of her hair or drum her fingers against some part of her body or item within her reach. It is nearly impossible for her to settle down completely and with so much energy it takes a long time for her to recover if she ever does go down in pain, sickness or even in sleep. The term, "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion" does come to mind when you think of Valerie and if it wasn't for that quote to back her up, it would most likely be hard to describe her energetic motions.

• Never underestimate how far Valerie would go for someone, especially since she is a walking machine of forgiveness. Her ability to forgive at a drop of a hat is almost frightening to an extent, but it has always been about her upbringing, where her father had always said it was better to forgive then to let the hate consume you. She has lived strongly by those words her father gave her and for the longest time she never let anyone get to under her skin, she forgave them and moved on, played the good girl and even when she got burned she still smiled and forgave them because that was all she could do in her life. Now a days she's a little harsh with her forgiveness, but she still gives it out almost instantly... even if it means giving them the cold shoulder to deal with her own emotions.

• No one can deny that she is anything but a hard worker. Valerie pulls her own weight and is willing to do just about any work thrown her way. Give her a simple task and she will go beyond the needed expectations just to ensure the quality of her work and if that means showing up two hours earlier then needed, you can guarantee that she will be there, putting blood, sweat and tears. However, it has been known to leave her looking very pale at times where she has been putting to much time into others and because she is dedicated to her work and her fellow campers, no one would deny that she needs a break every now and again.

• But she is just a little to helpful. Many times you will likely find her running with her head cut off trying to help as many people as she can, because she is that outrageous. There are many who take advantage of her helpful nature and likely try to get her to do a great deal of things they otherwise could do themselves. However, it's not only in work that she is helpful, it's emotionally and being a good friend that one can find her being the most helpful - that and helping to manipulate plants into brightening and becoming healthier to provide food for the Greeks and Romans who live under one alignment. Being a daughter of Demeter, she has a strong love for nature and tries to help that out as much as she can. You could call her a tree hugger if you must really.

• Many find this one aspect of Valerie to be a little interesting, considering its actually just her having her own perceptive on things. Growing up, Valerie was never told about her mother and had always thought that many her mother never loved her until the day she was told that her mother was a Goddess and that she was a demigod. It changed her whole perceptive on life and when the war broke out between the Greeks and the Romans and the Titans and she heard of the plan that the Titans wanted to see their parents and meet them, she couldn't agree more. She understood their desires, because she wanted to meet her mother too, and yet she could not for the life of her do so. So she understood and silently backed them from her own corner of the world.

• When it comes to her protective nature, many would call it a little overbearing, especially if you are close friends with her - or even family. Growing up an only child for most of her life - to wind up at Camp Half-Blood had been almost a blessing, and to find sisters and brothers who had the same mother as her... that brighten her mood and made her glad she had come to camp. She grew super protective of her half-siblings, to the point that if someone touched them a lot of her negative traits of her personality would begin to show. She never wanted to see them hurt and in all honesty - she'd fight to the death for them if given the chance.

NEGATIVE: 

• There is a very fine line between being cheerful and then being aggressive. Valerie walks that thin line almost fifty percent of the time, you see the young woman has a tendency to grow rather aggressive with her cheerful manner, always playfully swinging a little to hard with a 'playful' punch. Not to mention she is likely to attack someone in just as an aggressive manner if they attack her family or friends, no questions asked. One may find it adorable at first, thinking she's only being cute and fluttered, but it can quickly get out of control if things get pushed a little harder then needed. Other then her driven nature, being aggressive in pushing her belief that there can be united peace across all fronts is one of the main reasons many step back from her.

• Surprise, surprise, after being through so much in the last year, no wonder she would have a slightly anxious problem. Valerie seems to get extremely anxious when around anyone who is a firm believer that Romans and Greeks should not be allies, or even any mention of an attack. You see, while she can plaster a smile on her face and look relatively unfazed by it in the situation, if one looks closer they can actually see the signs. Her fingers wiggle, her pinkie becoming surprisingly stiff, when she walks away her body seems a little more rigid and her shoulders are squared. There is also the look in her eye that is far off and if you speak to her she is likely to jump in a frighten state because she isn't thinking of the current moment. Of course, it is only in the present of the camp and any situation that rises conflict to the point that physical violence may be used to physically maim (or kill) someone.

• When you see the word brutal and Valerie in a sentence together you get the idea that something finally switched and instead of the sweet and innocent young woman. You see get her fired up on a subject and she will likely beat you down with as much facts as possible, in a lack of an attempt to hide the unpleasant nature of the conversation. But that doesn't mean that it's all mentally and emotionally that she is brutal - oh no physically she'll beat your arse if she must really have to. The fact that she has no problems nor does she care at the time proves that she simply shuts down and lets pure animal instinct control her body in a fight or flight process... and her body is tune to fight. So when one does see a fuming Valerie storming towards you, fists balled there is a chance you'll likely experience some physical non-magical pain.

• If one watches close enough, even behind the smile that she plasters on her face every morning they can see her eyes calculating and observing. She's got her own agenda sure - everyone does - but she's trying to pain her next twenty steps ahead of time and making sure not to make to many enemies out of friends along the way. You see while everyone has there good and gentle side, Valerie tends to humour it more so, but of course her darker, less attractive side does have ways of bubbling up and surfaces and of course, you see the calculating brown eyes of a woman whose trying to figure out where you fit into her overall desire to see complete and utter peace across the three alignments.

• Now one may be wondering what being competitive has to do with being negative. You know those kids back in high school who always tried to beat you out at something simply because they could and then they got a little (or a lot) fussy when they lost? Well meet grade a version Valerie whose got a knack for getting competitive and then getting to the extremes of trying to prove she can do it just a tad bit better, improve it some form of way and if someone says "i dare you..." she's on it like bee to nectar. While she was never really good at anything that involving hand to hand fighting, give her racing against non-magically gifted children (you know which demigods you are), and she was always coming in as close to first in races as possible.

  ---

• Now this isn't meant to be that you ask her to do something and she disobeys it... oh no. Valerie is just extremely put off by demands that are barked, rudely pressed or shoved into her face. She will likely prove a point by turning away from the order if it is given in such a manner, or even just ignore the person in complete utter silence - of course this would probe her to apologize profoundly later, but that's a different story. You see, when it comes to her belief that everyone is equal regardless of parentage, she will disobey any order to forget that lesson her father taught her. She believes in her own set of goals - and while that might one day get her kicked out of the Greek/Roman alignment, it wouldn't stop her from believing still so strongly and going against everything everyone says about the tension.

• Now this negative can sometimes be seen as a positive, however in the heat of things or even when her abilities drain her, being an escapist can make thing all the more difficult - and dangerous. Valerie has the ability to, when she does feel threaten to the point that she wants to flee, she retreats into the safe guard of her own mind and allows it to be protected while whatever happens in the physical world happens and stays there. Her ability to slip into it so easily is almost frightening especially when she is recovering from a large amount of ability usage where she can be seen fluttering her eyelids and mutter unintelligent things that form into sentences about unicorns and dragons and stabbing people with horns... that fun stuff. Doing it does help her recover faster from her energy drainage, but it does leave her... vulnerable.

• Now to throw back to the brutal and aggressive nature, you may find that when hellfire does rise, it's kinda like how this girl's fiery is. She's got a sharp tongue, that goes with her passionate nature and when someone bashes something she is strongly passionate about; they are likely to trigger a quick temper that burns hot and lasts for quite some time. More likely then not it's the tendency that she has quite little ability to actually control when someone does get under her skin - because it is a rare occurrence - that when it does happen they do seem to see the water ripple and in all fairness... a sea monster poke it's eyes up. She's not one to let sleeping dogs lie when she is in this frenzy, and one would do well not to set her in this one.

• Now yes, we all have those moments of utter forgetfulness, but sometimes Valerie takes it to the extreme. She could quite literally forget what she wanted to say a moment before actually saying it simply because something else happened to distract her. Why, when most people tell her to keep a secret, sure she'll remember if it's really important and something that might be helpful for them later down the road - but most of the time she simply forgets the secret and feel extremely bad when she has to be told again and again what it was. But this does come in handy, during the fight between the Greeks and the Romans, when she came across someone of the opposite side, she was able to keep her mouth shut for she had forgotten any plans or moves that were given to her.

• Being hesitant only comes in the form of one other emotion and that's when it's placed along side her romantic interests. You see, being hesitant in any romantic interest just proves to her that she may be out of her league. She has of course loved in the past, but she has always been kind of standoffish when it came to it. She knows her limits but can never be to sure of what the limits of others would be and it's actually quite hilarious to watch as she reaches out of touch someones arm and then retract quickly simply because she doesn't know if that is crossing a line or such. Now imagine that with a boyfriend or even her future husband and you will likely see an issue on the subject. But her hesitation otherwise is hardly shown, perhaps when she listens to her gut she may be more hesitant then anything, but it is almost hardly visible until the moment the word 'love' is brought into the conversation.

• Like said before, while she may be forgetful to and extent she is an extremely good secret keeper and can be quite secretive herself. Many find her a good person to rely a secret too - not many do, but it's a thought possibly - and when and if they do, she's likely to take it to the grave unless otherwise told to by the person who told her. There has been one time in all her twenty years where she broke her secretive nature and expressed the truth, and that had been because the person in question would have likely died otherwise. There is a fine line between being stupidly secretive and then just plan secretive and Valerie would never cross the line into stupidity, she hates stupid people.

• Vulnerable is only a term used very often when Valerie is either out of it herself, or sleeping. You see, she can be found quite often then not in a manor os utter vulnerability when she has used to much of her ability and it has drained her or even when she has gone into an anxiety attack. You'll likely find that it's when her mind is literally left the building that she is no longer capable in that moment to take care of herself. This is the time for anyone to strike and snatch her from the false reality she's painted behind her eyes and if anyone does, sure there would be hell fire to play with later, but in that moment she's likely to make easy prey for any renegades or alignments to take home and try to get information from.

The children of the Greek Goddess, Demeter are sometimes blessed with abilities that help them through life - some just seeming to be so weak that they don't manifest until much later in life; other times some so strong that is's startling and actually quite terrifying for the young child. Valerie has always wondered why she has had such a green thumb growing up with her strange single father whose literal definition with plants would be "everything i touch dies". How since she was a young child Valerie has made it quite clear she can do so much more with plants around her. In fact, her chlorokinesis allows her to control plant life to an extent, in the past it used to help her grow vegetables, now a days it helps her create strong trip wires out of vines and roots as well as bend trees to form shelters. However, the ability to do such costs her a great deal of energy. While physically touching the plants she wants to manipulate costs less energy, it does drain her if she is doing it constantly and repetitively. However, she recovers quite quick from this minor energy drain - it's when she mentally ties to do it that it starts draining her to the point that her body collapses and she actually has to sleep to recover... however with the ability to do some mentally it means she's not in the heat of things. Her geokinesis is actually something she discovered when she first came to the camp. She had never noticed the small tiny hills of dirt previously that followed her footsteps when she walked, and when she had learned it at camp she used it simply to cover her tracks. A simple task as just shifting dirt to cover her footsteps can cause a slightly tingling in the back of her neck, however if she was to full out shifts earth - which she hardly and will likely never due unless the situation is dire - she can start to feel migraines and joint pain slowly easing into her until she's crumbling to the ground in pain. It probably stems from the lack of training she had with her second gift, however should she hone in on it and train better, the pain would ease slightly and leave her with unbelievable migraines.
